Kurseong - Land of White Orchids

Kurseong, also known as the “Land of White Orchids,” is a hill station near Darjeeling that is well-known for its Buddhist gompas, temples, and waterfalls.

Kurseong is a peaceful hill town located on the highway between Siliguri and Darjeeling. Most of the year, Kurseong experiences weather that is calmer and more comfortable. The town experiences days of non-stop rain during the monsoon season, which shows how benevolent the rain-gods are. The area’s plants and fauna actually greatly benefit from the rainfall. The flowers that grow in plenty on its hill slopes give Kurseong, also known as the “Land of White Orchids,” its name.

It’s impossible not to fall in love with the panoramic sight of tea plantations and beautiful forests surrounded by snow-capped mountains. A combination of the most stunning color can be seen in the sky at sunset. Churches and schools in the town are examples of the British remains. Tourists seeking a more tranquil alternative to Darjeeling should definitely stop by this modest hill town.
